Over a month after my Sue's passing and graveside services, I got another sympathy card in the mail . . . Several have come that way as some friends were just learning of her passing, so I wasn't surprised to see this one either! But this one was different! It was from all my Sue's co-workers at SASS from Mercy Regional Medical Center! About a a dozen of them came to the graveside services and left cards that day, but they all did another one - THIS one was one card signed by all of them with the message that their custom was that when a family member of one of their department members passed, they would take up a collection and send money to the family to purchase and plant a tree in their honor . . . I had forgotten about that. Inside was a gift certificate to buy a tree for my Sue. She had contributed to several such tree funds over her 12+ years there at Mercy.
This past week-end was our Taylor Family reunion and all but one daughter and 1 grandchild were here from my family . . . so I decided to purchase the tree and have the grandchildren plant my Sue's tree!!! The tree is a Pattern Perfect Maple. With the grandchildren's ages ranging from age 3 to 15, it was quite a little circus!! Of my Sue's 11 grandkids, 9 were here personally for the planting. Plus, we were able to Skype with one granddaughter so she could share this occasion with us anyway!!!
